Braver New World
At a time when democracies seem paralysed by fear and populations are turning inward, John made it his mission to travel the world, searching for solutions. He visited 10 countries confronting our shared challenges with bravery and imagination. The result, an urgent reminder that solutions exist. The question is whether we have the courage to learn and implement.
John has had a 40-year career in public life spanning global affairs, politics, media and arts. He is the author of eight books, his most recent, Braver New World, was published in April. He writes a regular Substack column called ‘Citizen of Everywhere‘, which looks at Germany, Europe and the world and is a frequent contributor to the Guardian, Foreign Policy, Politico.
