Europe’s scale-up funding gap
Europe has a proven ability to generate world-class early-stage technology companies, yet too few go on to scale into global leaders. Christian will explore the structural funding gap behind this challenge and what can be done to help Europe’s most promising companies grow on the global stage.
Christian brings nearly 30 years of experience at EQT, including six years as CEO and Managing Partner, during which EQT quadrupled in size. He oversaw EQT’s public listing on Nasdaq Stockholm in 2019 and guided the firm’s development as a publicly listed organisation, with a strong focus on governance, transparency and long-term, responsible ownership. He brings deep experience in leadership, governance, public markets and long-term value creation, and was recently appointed Chair of the Investment Committee for the Scaleup Europe Fund – a new initiative targeting EUR 5 billion to help bridge Europe’s scaleup funding gap. The European Innovation Council recently selected EQT as the preferred investment adviser and fund manager for the initiative.
