In conversation with John Arlidge, Andy will explore energy systems and decarbonisation. Palmer Energy is positioned around battery and energy-storage solutions supporting grid resilience, EV infrastructure and the clean energy transition.
Andy has led efforts to develop and sell electric cars across the world. As Chief Operating Officer of Nissan he drove the Japanese manufacturer’s electric vehicle and battery business and rolled out the Nissan LEAF, widely regarded as the first mass-market electric car. The LEAF established Nissan as an early EV leader and helped normalise electric vehicles in mainstream markets. As CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda from 2014, Andy oversaw the most ambitious product expansion in the firm’s modern history. This included the launch of multiple new models and derivatives, most notably the DBX, Aston Martin’s first luxury SUV, alongside the opening of a new manufacturing facility in South Wales. His tenure also pushed the brand towards mid-engined performance cars, including the Valkyrie, while navigating Brexit uncertainty and the COVID-19 pandemic. He is now CEO, Founder and Chairman of Palmer Energy.
