Following HSBC UK’s acquisition of SVB UK, Ian Stuart will talk about the global opportunities for the UK’s innovation ecosystem. He’ll outline how one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations plans to support the growth ambitions of founders, investors and sponsors in the tech and life sciences sector.
Ian has been Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC UK Bank plc since April 2017. One of the UK’s largest banks, HSBC UK serves over 14 million retail, commercial and private banking customers, supported by 23,500 colleagues. In addition to the HSBC UK brand, it also includes HSBC Private Bank (UK), M&S Bank, first direct and SVB UK. As CEO of HSBC UK, Ian is also a member of the HSBC Holdings plc Group Executive Committee. He is a member of the UK Finance Board. Ian has worked in financial services for over four decades. He joined HSBC as Group General Manager and Head of Commercial Banking Europe in 2014, having previously led the corporate and business banking businesses at Barclays and Natwest. He started his career at Bank of Scotland.
