The battle against modern day slavery
Almost 50 million people live as slaves today. In the UK alone there are estimated to be over 100,000 victims silently hidden – in places like car washes, brothels, nail bars and restaurants. Working alongside governments, agencies and officials around the world, James and his team are determined to tackle the criminal gangs responsible for human trafficking.

James co-founded Phoenix Equity Partners, serving as Managing Partner. Having been impassioned about the issue of modern day slavery, James and his wife Julia formed the multi-award winning charity Justice and Care. Initially working in India, the charity now has offices in Bangladesh, Romania, the UK and the US. It is backed by the US State Department, British Government, Comic Relief and UBS Optimus among others. In 2017 James was awarded the Beacon Award for Philanthropy.
