Gen Z and the future of news

Co-founded by William Lewis, former CEO of Dow Jones and Publisher of The Wall Street Journal, and Kamal Ahmed, former Editorial Director and Economics Editor of BBC News, the News Movement is a new media content business aimed at providing trusted, unbiased, engaging news on social media and other digital platforms. Kamal and his colleague, Clodagh Griffin, join us to discuss their mission and the new ways of telling stories and listening to audiences.

Kamal Ahmed
Editor-in-Chief, The News Movement

Before launching The News Movement, Kamal was Editorial Director, BBC News, between 2018 and 2021. He joined the BBC in 2014 as business editor and was promoted to the role of economics editor in December 2015, replacing Robert Peston.

He was previously business editor of the Sunday Telegraph and before that, Group Director, Communications, at the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Prior to that, he worked at both The Observer and The Guardian.

'Our purpose is based on a simple belief - that powerful journalism is one of the fundamental pillars of a strong, democratic society and that declining levels of trust in “the news” harms the ties that bind communities, and us all, together.'
