Sir Anthony Seldon
The Conservative Effect, 2010-2024: Fourteen Wasted Years?
After fourteen years of Conservative Government, Anthony discusses the impact of Conservative rule on a wide range of economic, social, foreign and governmental areas. For the next government, drawing the immediate lessons from this period will be pivotal if the country is to rejuvenate and flourish in the future.
Anthony is a leading contemporary historian, educationalist, commentator and political author. He was Master of Wellington College until 2015; Vice Chancellor of Buckingham University until 2020 and is currently Headmaster of Epsom College. 'Britain's standing in the world is lower, the union is less strong, the country less equal, the population less well protected, growth more sluggish with outlook poor, public services underperforming and largely unreformed, while respect for the institution of the British state, including the civil service, judiciary and the police is lower, as it is for external bodies, including the universities and the BBC.'
