China and Russia: differential risks
Sir Malcolm will analyse the challenges posed by the rise of China; and whether China is likely to become the new global superpower. He will also discuss the risks we face from Putin’s Russia.
Sir Malcolm served as a Minister throughout the Thatcher and Major administrations. From 1992-97 he served as Defence Secretary and then as Foreign Secretary. From 2010-15 he was Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament which has statutory oversight of MII6, MI5 and other Intelligence Agencies. He is, currently, a Visiting Professor at King’s College, London.
