In conversation with John Arlidge at the Albemarle Street store, Paul will discuss ‘the tourist tax’, the state of fashion and retail including sustainability and pricing, Brexit, UK creativity, what makes Paul Smith different – and why he does not have an email address.
Paul was born in Nottingham in July 1946. He met his now wife, Pauline, when he was 21. It was Pauline who introduced him to the visual arts, cinema and much more. From its origins in one small shop in Nottingham, in 1970, Paul Smith has grown into a global business. selling to five continents, over 70 countries and 3,000 shops. Paul Smith remains an independent company, with Paul Smith holding the majority stake. Paul Smith specialises in an inventive use of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge design to create beautifully made, modern pieces.
