Martin Rees
Science is not just for scientists: if it were, it could never save us from the multiple crises we face. Martin argues we need to think globally, we need to think rationally and we need to think long-term, empowered by twenty-first-century technology but guided by values that science alone cannot provide.
Martin is a cosmologist and astrophysicist. He has been Astronomer Royal since 1995 and is a member of the House of Lords. He was Master of Trinity College, Cambridge from 2004 to 2012 and President of the Royal Society between 2005 and 2010. Formerly he was Director of the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge. Martin has made important contributions to our understanding of cosmic phenomena and has also been extensively involved in issues of scientific and environmental policy.
“A judicious and timely presentation of nothing less than how to save the world, from one of our wisest scientists and public voices.”
