Lord Gus O'Donnell
Chair of Pro Bono Economics and Frontier Economics
Diana will be talking with the former UK Cabinet Secretary, Lord Gus O’Donnell, about how governments are approaching the virus crisis and what types of biases affect their thinking and action at this time.
Gus is Chair of Frontier Economics, a trustee of the Economist Group and Chair of Pro Bono Economics.
After joining the Treasury in 1979, Gus held various positions at the British Embassy in Washington, International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
From 2002 – 2005, he was Permanent Secretary at the Treasury and in 2005 became Cabinet Secretary on the retirement of Lord Turnbull. He held this position until 2011, serving three Prime Ministers.
He was made a life peer in 2012 and sits as a cross bencher in the House of Lords.
