Perspective from the front lines of the Energy Transition
Mark will discuss the impact and returns of the energy transition in advanced economies, what to expect and what could really matter @ COP28, how energy transition is macro critical and which countries are getting it right and who could miss out.
Mark is Chair of Bloomberg LP and Chair of Brookfield Asset Management where he is also Head of Transition Investing. He served as the Governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020, and prior to that as Governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 until 2013. He was Chairman of the Financial Stability Board from 2011 to 2018. Prior to his governorships, Mark worked at Goldman Sachs as well as the Canadian Department of Finance. He is currently the United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance and Co-Chair for the Glasgow Finance Alliance for Net Zero. He is also an external member of the Board of Stripe, a member of the Global Advisory Board of PIMCO, the Group of Thirty, Harvard University, Rideau Hall Foundation, Bilderberg, the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum, the Peterson Institute for International Economics the Hoffman Institute for Global Business and Society at INSEAD, Cultivo, as well as Senior counsellor of the MacroAdvisory Partners, Advisor of the Watershed and Chair of Chatham House.
