In conversation with Rt Hon Sir David Lidington on the future of geopolitics post pandemic

In this event, co-hosted by Pi Capital and RUSI, Sir David Lidington, Chairman at RUSI and a former cabinet minister, will be speaking with retired US Army general and former CIA Director, David Petraeus. They will be reflecting on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on some of the key geopolitical trends for the future.

General (Retd) David H. Petraeus

David is Senior Vice President of RUSI, former CIA Director and retired US Army general who concluded his career with 6 consecutive commands, 5 of which were in combat, including the Surge in Iraq. David is currently a Partner at KKR and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute.

Rt Hon Sir David Lidington

Sir David is Chairman at RUSI and a former cabinet minister. David served as MP for Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, for more than 27 years until he stepped down from the House of Commons at the 2019 General Election. In more 20 years on the Conservative Party front bench, he served as an Opposition spokesman on Home Affairs, Treasury, Environment and Agriculture, Northern Ireland and Foreign Affairs.

Between 2010 and 2016, David was the United Kingdom’s longest serving Minister for European Affairs. In Theresa May’s governments, he served successively as Leader of the House of Commons, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office.
